Renting a Car at Belfast International Airport (BFS)
Local Car Hire at Belfast International Airport
If you are visiting Northern Ireland, you will probably land at Belfast International Airport to begin your stay. Just 18 miles from the city of Belfast and close to the small village of Aldergrove, the airport was first used in 1917 as an air training establishment for the Royal Flying Corps.
From 1917 through to 1946, Aldergrove Airport, as it was known, remained in the hands of the RAF, but times were changing. With the increase in civil aviation, the airport has undergone major expansion over the years. In 1983 it was renamed Belfast International Airport, and today is a modern international airport and the island of Ireland’s second busiest international hub.
Whether you’re visiting the island on business or pleasure, the most convenient way to get around is to hire a car. Northern Ireland and the Irish Republic have open borders for all British and EU nationals. If your itinerary takes you north or south into the Republic, moving around in your hire car should be problem-free, although make sure you have relevant ID. Having cleared customs, you will find your Enterprise-Rent-A-Car hire desk conveniently situated in the arrivals hall, where Enterprise’s helpful staff will be able to answer any questions or queries, and have you on your way as quickly as possible.
Cheap Car Rental at Belfast International Airport
Are you on a busy business appointments schedule, or in a laid-back, get relaxed, take your time tourist mode? The one thing we all like to do is hit base as quickly as possible. Enterprise offers the best deals you will find anywhere for car hire, but you can do even better. By booking your rental car online, it will be waiting for you when you step off the plane. With all the formalities already completed, Enterprise’s staff will have you on the way to your hotel with a minimum of fuss or bother.
One-Way Car Hire
How many times have you had to plan your route, leaving your last day free to travel back, often hundreds of miles, to drop your hire car where you collected it? In an often already hectic business schedule, it makes things even more difficult, to say nothing of the added expense of time and fuel. Perhaps you’ve encountered unexpected problems, where you suddenly have to be somewhere else, with no idea of how long you’ll be staying or when you can get back. These scenarios make hiring a car difficult and often leave you open to excess hire charges. Well, no longer. At Enterprise, you can hire any of their vehicles for a one-way journey, delivering your car back to your designated Enterprise office anywhere in the country. Enterprise make hiring a vehicle that little bit easier.
A Wide Range of Vehicles to Hire
Are you touring alone, as one of a couple, or in a larger group of family or friends? Are you a company rep or company CEO heading to sign a lucrative contract? Will you be spending your time inner city driving, or covering hundreds of miles to see as much as you can of the country?
Enterprise maintains a massive fleet of modern, economical and comfortable vehicles to suit all situations. Small town cars for city driving keep fuel costs down and make parking easier. Small and medium family cars allow for town driving and those days out in the countryside, while large saloons will transport you silently up and down major trunk roads and motorways. Top of the range executive cars as befits your status and a range of sporty coupes and convertibles are all available from Enterprise car hire.
Driving Information from Belfast City Airport
Once you’ve collected your car, take the A57 out of the airport and pick up the M2 southbound. You will hit Belfast city in less than 20 minutes. For other areas north, north-east or north-west, take the A57 to the M2 and head north. If you are heading southward or toward Dublin, take the A26 to the M1 southbound and follow the signs to your destination. Both Northern Ireland and the Irish Republic drive on the left side of the road. Driving rules and regulations are similar on both sides of the border; just be aware of different speed limits, which will be well signposted.
